Connectivity
Choose how you plan to connect in China. Purchase options will be added after suitable partners and plans are verified.
Nearly everything on a China trip depends on data: maps, translation, ride-hailing, mobile payments, and train tickets all need a working connection from the moment you land. This tool helps you choose between the three realistic options — a travel eSIM, your home carrier's roaming plan, or a local Chinese SIM — based on your phone model, trip length, and expected data use. Decide before departure, not after: many Western apps and services (Google, WhatsApp, some email providers) are blocked on Chinese networks unless you arrange your own solution in advance; data-only eSIMs usually cannot receive SMS verification codes, which matters for banking and payment apps; and US-model iPhones have no physical SIM slot, so eSIM is the only choice. Pick your setup here, buy or activate it before you fly, and test that it connects while you still have home Wi-Fi to fall back on. Landing with working data turns the first chaotic hour into a manageable one.
You can change this choice later.
